Why did you choose the name 99 GAL Friends?
GAL is the acronym for our umbrella nonprofit Give a Little. And the "friends" is meant to indicate that members may want to be.
Do you have limit of 99 GAL Friend members?
No, we are now 99+ GAL Friends and welcome all women who would like to join us.
Can you explain more about the relationship between 99 GAL Friends and the Give a Little Foundation?
99 GAL Friends operates under the umbrella of Give a Little Foundation, which offers the benefit of 501(c)(3) status; vital administrative, technical, and other support; and an established network of contacts with local individuals and organizations.
If I sign up, am I committing myself for more than one year at a time?
No, we operate on a yearly basis. Each membership needs to be renewed year by year, so a decision not to renew would mean cancellation of membership.
If I join a team, how much time can I expect to allocate to the work?
Each team meets monthly for two hours. A team member can expect up to ten hours of time per month, but some may do more depending on their level of involvement.
Who can apply for an Impact Grant?
Our teams research local nonprofit and other organizations who share our vision to create opportunities for underserved populations. Each team then invites them to apply for a grant.
What is the average amount awarded for Impact Grants?
Thus far, the average award has been $1,700. The top limit for funding is $5,000.
Does every dollar of my membership fee go to toward grants?
A small portion of each member’s contribution goes for administrative, event, and educational expenses.

Are there opportunities for socializing with other members?
We are working build in more social opportunities for members with educational programs, meet and greets, and our annual gala.
