Arts and Culture
There are two aspects to our focus on Arts and Culture. On the one hand, we actively promote the idea that art in all its forms (song, dance, theater, drawing, painting, music, writing, photography, film, sculpture, etc.) is for everyone at every age. Practicing the arts at any level of proficiency reduces stress, improves mental clarity, and provides joy. Daily creativity is an important, healthy habit. It is self-care at its best!
Additionally, we want to encourage individuals of all ages to enjoy the arts as spectators/listeners. By providing grant funding for free or reduced-cost tickets and for publicity, we are making wider attendance possible at theatrical, musical, dance, and other performances, as well as increased visits to museums, exhibitions, festivals, and more.

Paper Gardens Creative Writing Contest
Anthology Printing Costs Founded in 1993, Paper Gardens is an annual creative writing contest that results in a book publication.
It has a wide outreach: in 2024, for example, the volunteers received about 500 entries of original poetry or prose submitted by children, teens, and adult writers, from which 77 were chosen for publication. The Paper Gardens 2025 anthology, the printing of which our grant helped to fund, is available in libraries and sold in bookstores. |
McMinnville Women's Choir
Transitional Support
Transitional Support
The McMinnville Women's Choir, founded in 2011/2012 in the belief that "every woman can sing," experienced a financial downturn during the pandemic. Our previous grant helped the choir pay for rehearsal space and made available 50 free concert tickets to those who could not afford them. With a change in leadership, this second grant paid the modest cost of the former long-time Artistic Director training her successor.
As stated on the choir's website: We are truly grateful for your support of our mission and the investment you've made in our choir and community. Your partnership means the world to us, and we invite you to attend our next concert to experience firsthand the impact of your support. Thank you again from each and every singing sister!

The arts are not a luxury. They are a necessity. They define who we are as a people.

Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up.
~Pablo Picasso
To practice any art, no matter how well or badly, is a way to make your soul grow.
